| EMILY GONZALES
Emily sat at her table in her garden with her typewriter in front of her as she stared at the calming waterfall in the distance. Slowly, she began to drift off into a meditative state of relaxation.
Lingering over loving moments of the past, she began remembering the loved ones that had brought her so much joy in her childhood and early adult life. Emily thought of her father, her sister and her brother that passed over to the other side quite some time ago. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at old family photos from her childhood.
“You can’t go back to the past except in dreams and pictures,” she always thought. This is why Emily decided to start Emily’s Garden.
Emily’s Garden is a website for people of all ages and stages in their lives to have a place to come and sit by themselves or with Emily and bring back those memories of love and joy. It’s not wrong to reminisce as long as it’s for healing and doesn’t keep you from moving forward in life. You have to remember, you are still living. Don’t shut out the loved ones in your life that are still here. And, it’s not unusual to have spiritual contact with the ones that have passed over. You can see them in dreams or they can actually visit you in thought.
As Emily started to type, she giggled about the time Tony, her youngest brother, chased her with a frog when she was 6 years old. Emily always hated frogs. They were slimy. Then she remembered her sister Mary before that fatal night that took Mary’s life in the car accident. She was only 24 years old. She always wondered if Mary had not gone out that night, would Mary still be alive today, married with children?
Emily can look back now and see that through all of the loss that she has endured, if she had a place to go back then to talk or write her feelings, would her own life have been different?
As Emily continued to think of Tony, she laughed at the times that her older, surviving sister, Josie, and she referred to younger Mary and Tony as “the babies”. Even though Emily and Josie were not that much older than their siblings, they were called upon to baby-sit when it was needed.
One small photo album reminded her of the day that Emily’s dad, Al, was instructed by her mother to take Emily and Josie shopping for black patent leather shoes to wear to church every Sunday. Dad got them to the store and the six and seven year olds decided to pick red shoes and red purses. Dad gave in and we won’t mention what mother said to him when he arrived home with two girls wearing red shoes and carrying matching red purses! These are the special memories that Emily thinks about when she enters her garden.
Emily invites you to come in, relax and record your memories and send them to her. Hopefully, it will mark the beginning of the healing process over the loss of your loved ones. And, rest assured, Emily will respond!
Thank you for coming. Enjoy the garden! |
